Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilköğretim öğrencilerinin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine ilişkin tutumlarını ölçebilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç geliştirmektir. Çalışma grubu 651 altıncı sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmuştur. Ölçek geliştirme süreci, ilgili literatürün taranması, görüşmeler yoluyla uzman görüşlerinin alınması, madde havuzunun oluşturulması ve ön analiz işlemi aşamalarından oluşmaktadır. Maddelerin faktör analizine uygunluğu için KMO (.96) ve Bartlett’s test (8.990) değerleri hesaplanmış ve chi-square değeri (p=0.000) anlamlı bulunmuştur. Analiz sonucunda sevme (α=.87), yarar (α=.88), ilgi (α=.77), istek (α=.76) ve güven (α=.74) olarak isimlendirilen beş faktör belirlenmiştir. Beş faktörlü ölçeğin açıkladığı toplam varyans yüzde 55.95’tir ve maddelerin faktör yükleri. 48 ile. 78 arasında değişmektedir. Ölçek 14’ü olumlu, 15’i olumsuz tutumları ölçen toplam 29 maddeden oluşmaktadır. Analiz sonuçları ölçeğin öğrencilerin Sosyal Bilgiler dersine yönelik tutumlarını ölçebilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğunu göstermektedir.
