Abstract:

Mih.ly (Michael) Pol.nyi, who is known nowadays more as a contemporary philosopher of science, has taken part in many fields of science and has become one of the most outstanding names of these fields. After his medical education, he worked as a doctor during the First World War, co-worked with leading scientists of the period in the fields of chemistry and physics, especially physicochemistry. Right before of the Second World War; he capped off his studies in the field of physicochemistry and started to study on philosophy, especially on knowledge and social philosophy. Since he is a polymath he shows the connection between the fields that he studied with the concepts developed by himself and today we can see Polanyi’s name on many fields from the medicine to chemistry and physics, from philosophy to art, from education methods to information and even to artifical intelligence. This study includes Pol.nyi’s life, his work in different fields of science, his views on science andknowledge.
