Abstract:

The population in the world and Turkey is rapidly aging and the housing and care of this elderly population is increasingly important. The importance of organizations such as the facilities that serve for the housing and care of elderly individuals and providing services in accordance with the world standards in our country has become more and more important. This study is aimed at improving the living standards of the elderly living in their homes. In accordance with the Istanbul law, 29 private institutions have been examined, obtained from institutions or identified in individual locations thanks to the data that occurred in locations have been assessed. During the study, the places where the elderly population frequently uses were identified and 5 main spatial risks were identified and these risks were divided into 47 sub-risk groups. Each of the sub-risk groups of the locations has been obtained to the data of the risk locations assessed by the Fine-Kinney Risk Assessment Method. As a result of the study, we have identified areas where we need to pay attention according to the risks in the premises to improve the living standards of the elderly individuals living in the stairs of Istanbul and presented recommendations for the improvement of the premises.

It has become increasingly important in our country to provide services such as nursing homes that provide services for the care and maintenance of elderly people in accordance with world standards. In this study; it is aimed to bring the living standards of elderly people living in nursing homes to a better level. Within the Istanbul province, 29 nursing homes belonging to private institutions were examined and deficiencies the risks in the areas were identified later indoor plans taken from institutions or drawn after observations. During work; In the nursing homes, the places where the elderly population frequently used are identified and 5 main spatial risks are identified and these risks are divided into 47 sub-risk groups. Each of the sub-risk groups of the space was assessed by the Fine-Kinney Risk Assessment method and the data of the most risky places were reached. As a result of the study, in order to improve the living standards of elderly people living in nursing homes in Istanbul, we have identified the areas that we should not pay attention to according to the risks in the rooms and offered suggestions for the improvement of the spaces.
