Bilimsel düşüncenin yerleşmesi ve gelişmesinde veya daha geniş anlamda, öğrenmenin istenilen düzeyde gerçekleşmesinde kavramların yeri ve önemi inkar edilemez. Bu yüzdendir ki, bütün bilimlerde o disipline has terminoloji teşekkül etmiştir. Tarih öğretiminde de istenilen başarının elde edilebilmesinde kavramların doğru kullanımı çok önemlidir.

It is indisputable that the concepts have an important place in the settlement and development of scientific thought or in a broader sense,in actualising the learning at a desired level. That is why a special terminology has been developed for each discipline. It is very important to use the concepts accurately to achieve the desired success in history teaching. In spite of this fact, we confront “the issue of terminology” as a serious problem in historiography and history teaching in Turkish history literature. In this paper, the problems caused by the use of history terminology in Turkish history researches and in textbooks were analysed and some suggestions were developed.
