Yaşamın altın yılları olarak bilinen erken çocukluk dönemi, ilk öğrenme ve deneyimlerin kazanıldığı, içerisinde kritik dönemlerin bulunduğu, çocuğun bu dönemde sahip olduğu kazanımlarla ileriki yaşantısının büyük ölçüde şekillendiği ve bu nedenlerden dolayı tesadüflere bırakılmaması gereken bir dönem olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bu dönemde çocuğun gelişim özelliklerine paralel olarak verilen bütüncül bir eğitim, çocuğun gelişimi ve yaşantısı için önem taşımaktadır. Çocuğa verilen bütüncül eğitimin içinde bulunan, bilişsel, fiziksel, dil, sosyal-duygusal gelişim alanlarına paralel gelişim gösteren ve çoğu kez çocukların idrak edemeyeceği, özümseyemeyeceği düşünülerek geri planda bırakılan dini gelişim alanı da bu dönem çocuklarına verilen bütüncül eğitimin kapsamı içerisinde yer almalıdır. Prof. Dr. Mustafa KÖYLÜ ve Doç. Dr. Cemil ORUÇ tarafından hazırlanmış olan “Çocukluk Dönemi Din Eğitimi” adlı eserde, doğumdan yaklaşık on yaşına kadar çocuğun dini gelişiminin diğer gelişim alanlarıyla paralel olarak nasıl bir gelişim gösterdiği incelenmiştir. Bu gelişim sürecinde, çocuğun çevresinde bulunan yetişkinlerin nasıl bir tutum sergilemesi gerektiği ve çocuğa verilecek olan din eğitiminde hangi hususlara dikkat edilmesi gerektiği tespit edilerek çocukların gelişimine uygun bir din eğitiminin nasıl olması gerektiği ortaya konmak istenmiştir. Hazırlanan eserde din, psikoloji ve pedagoji ile ilgili yapılmış olan birçok araştırmadan faydalanılmıştır.
The early childhood period, known as the golden years of life, is defined as a period in which the first learning and experiences are acquired, in which critical periods are presented, the achievements of the child in this period are largely shaped and the future life of the child is largely shaped, and therefore it should not be left to coincidences. In this period, a comprehensive education given in parallel with the development characteristics of the child is of importance for the development and life of the child. The area of religious development which is located within the comprehensive education given to the child, which shows parallel development to the fields of cognitive, physical, language, social and emotional development and which is often overlooked by the children to be unable to realize, to be unable to absorb, must also be within the scope of comprehensive education given to the children of this period. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Village and Doç. Dr. Cemil ORUÇ’s work “Childhood Religious Education” has studied how the child’s religious development from birth to approximately ten years of age shows a development in parallel with other areas of development. In this development process, it was asked to figure out how adults around the child should show a attitude and what aspects should be taken into account in the religious education to be given to the child, and how a religious education should be appropriate for the development of the child. The prepared work has taken advantage of many studies on religion, psychology and pedagogics.
