Abstract:

International Criminal Court established within the international criminal law is a permanent and independent judicial organization that has been established by international community in order to prosecute the heaviest crimes such as Genocide, Crimes against Humanity and War Crimes can be committed by state governors. The Rome Statue is the name of the international treaty which founds the International Criminal Court. In this study, reasons for the emergences of the international criminal proceedings have been primarily analysed. Thereafter, dispute resolution methods under the United Nations, the structure and functioning of the International Criminal Court and the Court’s effect to State Sovereignty have been examined. Finally, it has been clarified the analysis of the crimes in the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and potential legal and political consequences of the Rome Statute’s recognition for Turkey
