Abstract:

The aim of this research is to identify the relationship between the leisure time satisfaction and loneliness conditions of individuals studying at the university. The research has been carried out in accordance with the relational scan pattern from the scan models. The study group consists of a total of 300 students, including 169 students studying at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa and 131 students studying at Istanbul Esenyurt University. In addition to the personal information form in the study, it was developed by Russell, Peplau & Ferguson (1978) and used the "Free Time Doyum Measure (SZDÖ)" adapted to the Turkish by Gökçe & Orhan (2011) and developed by UCLA Unity Scale (UCLA) with Beard & Raghep (1980). Following the normal distribution of research data as a result of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, parametric tests were used in the analysis. In the research findings; there is no significant differences between the status of loneliness according to the gender of individuals; there is a significant difference between the "psychological" subdimensions of the SZDÖ according to the gender. The study found a negative meaningful relationship between leisure time and loneliness. As a result, it can be said that the more satisfying students get in their leisure time, their loneliness will decrease.
