“Varoluş özden önce gelir” sözüyle özetlenebilecek varoluşçuluk 19. yüzyılın sonlarında edebiyat, tiyatro ve psikoloji başta olmak üzere pek çok alana etki etmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türk edebiyatının önemli isimlerinden biri olan Yusuf Atılgan’ın Aylak Adam romanını varoluşçu felsefenin ve psikolojinin temel kavramlarını göz önünde bulundurarak incelemektir. Bu kapsamda öncelikle eserin yazarı olan Yusuf Atılgan hakkında kısa bir bilgilendirme yapılacaktır. İzleyen bölümlerde adı geçen eserde yaşanan olaylar ve ana karakter (C.) varoluşçu felsefenin önde gelen isimlerinin üzerine düşündükleri bazı kavramlar çerçevesinde yorumlanacaktır. Bu çalışma, soyut bir kavram olan varoluşçuluğun ve onun ortaya attığı meselelerin Türkçe kaleme alınmış Aylak Adam romanında nasıl kurgulandığını ve şekillendiğini göstermenin bir aracı olmayı hedeflemektedir.
Existentialism which can be summarized with the phrase “Existence comes before essence”, had an impact on many fields, especially literature, theater, and psychology at the end of the 19th century. The aim of this study is to examine the novel Aylak Adam by Yusuf Atılgan, one of the important names of Turkish Literature, by considering the basic concepts of existential philosophy and psychology. In this context, first of all, a brief information about Yusuf Atılgan, the author of the work, will be given. Following sections, events and main characters (C.) in the works mentioned will be interpreted within the framework of some concepts put forward by the leading names of existential philosophy. This study aims to be a tool to show how existentialism, which is an abstract concept, and the issues it brings to the agenda, are fictionalized and shaped in the Turkish novel Aylak Adam.
