Abstract:

Kullanımlar ve Doyumlar teorisi, bireylerin kitle iletişim araçlarını hangi ihtiyaçlarını gidermek amacıyla kullandığını ortaya koymaktır. Kullanımlar ve doyumlar kuramı çerçevesinde ilk olarak, radyo, televizyon ve gazete gibi araçların kullanım nedenleri araştırılmıştır. Günümüzde teknolojinin gelişmesiyle internete ulaşım kolaylaşmaktadır. Erişimin kolaylaşmasıyla internet ve sosyal medya kullanıcı sayısı her geçen gün artmaktadır. Bu durum iletişim araçlarının bireyler tarafından hangi amaçla kullanıldığı üzerine çalışmalar yapmaya zemin hazırlamıştır. Bu çalışmada, kullanıcı sayısı her geçen gün artan sosyal medyanın bireyler tarafından hangi ihtiyaçları gidermek amacıyla kullanıldığı ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda Sakarya Üniversitesinde 2014-2015 öğrenim yılında eğitim gören sosyal medya kullanıcısı 550 öğrenci ile anket çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Anket çalışması sonucunda, üniversite öğrencilerini genel olarak, sosyal medya kullanmaya yönelten motivasyonlar dokuz başlıkta toplanmaktadır. Bu motivasyonlar, kişisel sunum, eğlenme ve rahatlama, sosyal etkileşim, gözetim ve rehberlik, bilgi edinme, arkadaşlık, ekonomi, karar verme ve alışkanlık motivasyonlarıdır. Ayrıca bireylerin sosyal medya kullanım motivasyonları ile demografik özellikleri arasında farklılıklar olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract:

The Theory of Uses and Doyums is to reveal which means of mass communication individuals use to meet their needs. In the framework of the use and satisfaction theory first, the reasons for the use of vehicles such as radio, television and newspapers were studied. Nowadays, with the advancement of technology, internet transportation is becoming easier. With the ease of access, the number of users of the internet and social media is increasing every day. This situation has prepared the ground to work on what purposes the means of communication are used by individuals. In this study, the aim of the number of users is to reveal what needs the increasing social media is being used by individuals to meet. In this context, an survey study was carried out with 550 social media users who studied in the 2014-2015 academic year at Sakarya University. As a result of the survey, motivations aimed at the use of social media to university students in general are gathered in nine titles. These motivations are personal presentation, entertainment and relaxation, social interaction, supervision and guidance, knowledge acquisition, friendship, economy, decision making and habit motivations. There are also differences between the motivations of individuals to use social media and their demographic characteristics.

Uses and satisfaction theory, is to reveal the needs they try to satisfy  by using mass media. . First of all, the reasons of use of the devices such as radio,television and newspaper are investigated within the framework of Uses and satisfaction theory.Together with the easy access, the number ofinternet and social media users is increasing day by day. This situation set the stage for  the studies on what purposes individuals use the media of communication. In this study it is aimed to reveal the needs the individuals aim to satisfy by using the social media whose users are increasing day by day. In this context,a survey was conducted  with 550 students who studied at Sakarya University in 2014-2015 academic year. As a result of the survey ,the motivations leading the young people using social media are collected under nine titles. These motivations are personal presentation, entertainment and relaxing, social interaction, supervision and guidance,acqusition of knowledge,friendship,economy,makşng decisions and habits..It is also established that there are differences between the motivations of individuals to use social media and their demographics.
