Abstract:

It is very important to get our dictionaries written in the past to the present and to study these dictionaries from the point of view of dictionary theories. Specifically, historical dictionaries have not been subjected to a comprehensive assessment due to theoretical gap related to the dictionary field. The postgraduate studies carried out with the title "Literary study", although these studies are more in the form of linguistic studies related to the dictionary along with the translation of dictionaries. Therefore, such studies do not provide comprehensive information on many characteristics to be known, such as the dictionary-user relationship, the dictionary’s structure and functions. It requires comprehensive dictionary reviews to be able to prepare user-friendly dictionaries. In this study, the "Modern Theory of Lexicographic Functions" (The Modern Theory of Lexicographic Functions) was adopted as a method developed by the researchers of the Aarhus University Dictionary Center and applied to Translator-Lugate (TL).
