Abstract:

This research, on the examination of the entrance doors of traditional Ürgüp houses depending on the plan types, was carried out with a sample group formed in the historical six districts of Ürgüp. Entrance doors, which have an important place in the traditional civil architectural texture of Ürgüp, especially in the street silhouette, present different examples with their form and detail features. In this study, it is aimed to make a typology study by examining the general characteristics, materials, construction techniques and decoration features of the entrance doors of traditional houses in detail. In this context, the entrance doors were examined under two headings as courtyard doors and doors opening directly to the street. An inventory was created with scaled drawings, photographs, location information and specially prepared charts of 81 doors identified by fieldwork in six historical quarters in the settlement. As a result, with this study, it is aimed to determine, document, protect and transfer the characteristic features of this heritage that has survived to the present day by preserving its original values.
