Türkiye’nin Doğu Anadolu bölgesinde yer alan Van, sahip olduğu 19.069 km2 yüz ölçümü ile coğrafi ve stratejik açıdan son derece büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Şehrin, İran ile sınır olması bu önemini bir kat daha arttırmaktadır. Tarih boyunca çeşitli medeniyetlere ev sahipliği yapan Van, içerisinde barındırdığı kültür mozaiği ile büyük devletlerin hâkimiyet mücadelesine de sahne olmuştur. İşte bu devletlerden bir tanesi Osmanlı diğeri ise dönemi ile mütenasip olmak üzere Safevî Devleti’dir. Yavuz Sultan Selim zamanında iki devlet arasında Çaldıran Savaşı (1514) meydana gelmiş ve bu savaş Osmanlı Devleti’nin galibiyeti ile neticelenmiştir. Çaldıran Savaşı’ndan sonra Safevîlerin Anadolu sahasında gerçekleştirmek istediği siyasî ve dinî emelleri kesintiye uğrasa da bilhassa sınır boylarında yaşanan olaylar Cumhuriyet dönemine kadar canlılığını korumuştur. Van ile birlikte İran’a komşu olan illerimizden bir diğeri de Ağrı’dır. Özellikle bu coğrafyada yaşanan sınır hadiseleri Cumhuriyet’in ilk dönemlerinde belirgin bir şekilde kendisini göstermiştir. Türkiye ile İran arasında her ne kadar bu hadiselerin önlenmesine yönelik adımlar atılsa da İran’ın eşkıya ve şekavet olaylarını desteklemesi meseleyi zaman zaman çözümü güç bir siyasî çıkmaza sürüklemiştir. Bu çalışmada 1925-1932 yılları arasında Van ve Ağrı özelinde meydana gelen sınır hadiseleri ve bu hadiseler karşısında devletlerin tutumu bilhassa dönemin basın organları ve arşiv belgeleri ışığında ele alınmıştır.
Situated in Turkey's Eastern Anatolia Van city, with owned 19 069 km2 surface area has immensely of great importance due to its geographical and strategic perspective. The city's border with Iran increases this importance one more time. Having hosted various civilizations throughout history, Van has also witnessed the domination struggle of the great states with its cultural mosaic. Here, one of these states is the Ottoman State and the other is the Safavid State, in line with the period. During the reign of Yavuz Sultan Selim, the Çaldıran War (1514) occurred between the two states and this war ended with the victory of the Ottoman State. Even though the political and religious ambitions that the Safavids wanted to realize in the Anatolian field were interrupted after the Battle of Çaldıran, especially the events that took place along the borders remained alive until the Republic period. Along with Van, another of our neighboring provinces to Iran is Ağrı. In particular, border events in this geography showed themselves clearly in the early periods of the Republic. Iran and Turkey has taken steps to prevent these incidents. However, Iran's support for banditry and banditry incidents has led the issue to a political impasse that is difficult to solve from time to time. In this study, the border incidents that occurred in Van and Ağrı between 1925-1932 and the attitude of the states against these events were discussed in the light of the press organs and archive documents of the period.
