Abstract:

Mehmed Emin Efendi, who is known as Ankaravî about her birthplace, received knowledge from different scholars in the Ottoman education system and served as a professor in the Sahn-ı Semân and Süleymaniye madrassas. In addition, Mehmed Emin Efendi, a fatwa surety and a kadi in different places, was appointed as a judge in Rumelia. During this duty, he acted as the deputy of sheikh al-Islam Minkârîzâde Yahyâ Efendi due to his disease. In 1685, he was appointed as a judge for the second time and then as a sheikh al-Islam instead of Çatalcalı Ali Efendi. He was fond of hunting during his Shaykh al-Islam, IV. Mehmed Emin Efendi, who took an active role in preventing a possible uprising by convincing Mehmed to deal with his primary duty due to his staying away from state affairs and bad news from the fronts, gathered the fatwas he gave, especially during his sheikh al-Islam period under the name "Fetava-yi Ankaravî.” On the other hand, after he was dismissed from Rumelia qazaskari in 1676, he wrote an annotation for his work called "Tenvîru'l Ebsâr", which was compiled from reliable books by Timurtaşî, one of the Hanafi fiqh scholars, while he was residing in Ankara. Mehmed Emin Efendi, who also has works on tafsir, is one of the important figures who inspired the next generations with her knowledge in religious sciences from previous periods.
