Abstract:

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı Gazi Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Endodonti Anabilim Dalının farklı kliniklerinde hasta memnuniyetinin saptanmasıdır. Her bir kliniğin kendi içerisinde incelenmesi ve klinikler-arası karşılaştırmaların yapılması amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma 2018 yılı bahar döneminde öğrenci kliniği ve asistanların çalıştığı asistan kliniği ve özel klinikte yapıldı. Onam veren, yaşı ≥18 olan, rutin randevulu endodontik hastalar dahil edildi. Tedavi öncesi hastadan demografik bilgisi ve 8 anket maddesi için beklentisi soruldu. Tedavi sonrası aynı 8 madde için memnuniyeti soruldu. Skorlama 5’li Likert skalası ile yapıldı. Kategorik değişkenler için ki-kare testi, grup-içi karşılaştırmalarda Wilcoxon testi, gruplar-arası karşılaştırmalarda Kruskal-Wallis H ve Dunn çoklu karşılaştırma testleri kullanıldı (α=0.05). Bulgular: Geçerli 259 anket elde edildi (istatistiksel güç ≥%95). Gruplar ile demografik değişkenler arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmadı (p>0.05). Gruplar-arası karşılaştırmaların tümünde asistan kliniği ve özel kliniğin birbirine benzer olduğu (p>0.05) ancak karşılaştırmaların çoğunda öğrenci kliniğinin diğer ikisinden istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde ve olumsuz yönde farklı olduğu görüldü (p<0.05 veya p<0.01). Grup-içi karşılaştırmalarda asistan kliniğinde ve özel klinikte tüm sorular için memnuniyet skoru, beklenti skorundan yüksek bulundu (pozitif değerler). Bunun tersine, öğrenci kliniğinde soruların çoğu için (5/8) negatif değerler alındı. Asistanların çalıştığı kliniklerde memnuniyet skoru medyan değeri her zaman 5 (çok iyi) iken, öğrenci kliniğinde 4 (iyi) veya 5’ti. Sonuç: Gazi Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi endodonti kliniklerinde hastalar memnuniyetlerini çoğunlukla iyi veya çok iyi olarak ifade ettiler. Asistanların çalıştığı kliniklerdeki hasta memnuniyeti öğrenci kliniğindekinden daha yüksekti.

Patient satisfaction in the endodontic clinics of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Gazi: survey study

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to determine patient satisfaction in different clinics of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Gazi. Each clinic is designed to be examined within itself and to be compared between clinics. Tools and Methods: The study was carried out in the spring period of 2018 in the student clinic and assistant clinic and private clinic where students work. Patients who were approved, aged ≥18, were included with routine endodontic appointments. The patient was asked for demographic information and expectations for 8 survey items before treatment. After the treatment, the satisfaction for the same 8 ingredients was asked. Scoring was made with the Likert scale 5. For category variables, the ki-quar test, the Wilcoxon test in group-intercomparations, the Kruskal-Wallis H and Dunn multi-comparation tests in group-intercomparations were used (α=0.05). Results: 259 current surveys were obtained (statistical power ≥95%). There was no meaningful relationship between groups and demographic variables (p>0.05). In all group-intercomparations, the assistant clinic and the private clinic were similar (p>0.05); however, in most comparations, the student clinic was statistically significantly and negatively different from the other two (p<0.05 or p<0.01). In group-in comparisons, the satisfaction score for all questions in the assistant clinic and in the special clinic was found higher than the expected score (positive values). On the contrary, negative values were taken for most questions (5/8) in the student clinic. The median score of satisfaction in the clinics where assistants work is always 5 (very good), while the student’s clinic is 4 (good) or 5. Result: In the endodontic clinics of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Gazi, patients expressed their satisfaction mostly as good or very good. Patient satisfaction in the clinics in which the assistants worked was higher than in the student clinic.

Objective: To evaluate the patient satisfaction at the different clinics of the Department of Endodontics of the Faculty of Dentistry at Gazi University. The evaluations were aimed for each individual clinic, and comparisons were also done among the clinics. Materials and Method: The study was carried out at the undergraduate clinic and the two graduate clinics (routine clinic and special clinic) during the spring term of 2018. Scheduled endodontic patients, aged ≥18 years and providing consent for participation were included. The patients’ demographic data and their levels of emphasis they placed on 8 questionnaire items and their satisfaction levels were asked before and after the treatment, respectively. A 5-point Likert scale was used. Chi-square test for categorical variables, Wilcoxon test for inter-group comparisons, and Kruskal-Wallis H and Dunn’s multiple comparisons tests for intra-group comparisons were employed (α=0.05). Results: Two hundred fifty-nine valid questionnaires were obtained (statistical power ≥%95). No significant relationship was found between the clinics and the demographic variables (p>0.05). In all the inter-group comparisons, the graduates’ routine and special clinics were similar (p>0.05); however, for most of the items, the undergraduate clinic was significantly different from and inferior to the graduate clinics (p<0.05 or p<0.01). In intra-group comparisons, the satisfaction scores of the graduates’ clinics were always greater than the emphasis scores (positive values). Contrarily, mostly negative values were obtained at the undergraduate clinic (5/8). The median satisfaction score was always 5 (very good) for the graduates’ clinics, and 4 (good) or 5 for the undergraduates’ clinic. Conclusion: The patients rated their satisfaction for the endodontic clinics of the Faculty of Dentistry at Gazi University mostly as good or very good. The patients’ satisfaction for the graduate clinics was greater than that of the undergraduate clinic.
