Rusya’nın 1945 yılında Türkiye'ye 1925 anlaşmasının geçerliliğini yitirdiğine dair bir nota vermesi, 7 Haziran 1945 tarihinde yeni bir işbirliği antlaşmasının imzalanması için Türkiye'den Kars, Ardahan ve Boğazlardan imtiyaz talep etmesi ve 1946 yılında da Boğazlar konusunda yine Türkiye’ye iki sert nota vermesi ile Türk Sovyet ilişkileri Cumhuriyet döneminin en sıkıntılı sürecine girmiştir. Bu gelişmelere paralel olarak da gerek ulusal gerekse yerel basında “komünizm” ve “Sovyet Rusya” ile ilgili yayınlarda kullanılan üslup gittikçe sertleşmiştir. Trabzon’da bu dönemde yayın yapan gazetelerin haberlerinde, dış gelişmelerin ülke gündemindeki siyasi gelişmelere olumsuz etkileri bir şekilde “komünizm”le bağlantı kurularak okuyuculara aktarılmıştır. Trabzon basınının genel tutumu, Sovyet ve komünizm karşıtlığı, Amerika ve Batı taraftarlığı olmuştur. Bu bağlamda dönemin Trabzon basınının sesi olan “Halk”, “Trabzon”, “Yeniyol”, “Çaykara”, “Demokrat Çaykara”, “Doğu”, “Hizmet” ve “Hakimiyet” gazetelerinden yararlanılarak hazırlanmış olan bu çalışma ile 1945-1960 arası dönemde Trabzon kamuoyundaki “Rusya” ve “komünizm” algısının ortaya konulması amaçlanmaktadır.
The fact that Russia gave a note to Turkey in 1945 that it lost its validity of the 1925 Treaty, the fact that Turkey requested the grant from Kars, Ardahan and Boğaz for the signature of a new cooperation Treaty on June 7, 1945 and the fact that Turkey again gave two hard notes to Turkey in 1946 on Boğaz, the Turkish-Soviet relations entered the Republican period. Inside the country concerns have grown, and the crises with Russia have brought a more doubtful and harsh approach to leftist activities in domestic policy. Parallel to these developments, the style used in publications on “communism” and “Soviet Russia” in both national and local press has become increasingly harsh. In the news of the newspapers published in Trabzon during this period, the negative effects of external developments on political developments in the country’s agenda have been translated to readers by linking to “communism” in a way. and II. During the World War, in the Trabzon press, where information about the progress of the Soviet Union in the war is often included, whether it is power or opposition, a common front against Russia and communism has been established along with the tensions of the post-war relations. The general attitude of the Trabzon press, the anti-Soviet and communism, the American and Western supportive. In this context, the work, which was prepared using the “People”, “Trabzon”, “Yeniol”, “Caykara”, “Democratic Caykara”, “Eastern”, “Service” and “Justice” newspapers, which were the voice of the period’s Trabzon press, aims to reveal the perception of “Russia” and “communism” in the public in the period between 1945 and 1960.
Soviet Russia sent a diplomatic note to Turkey in 1945 through which it expressed its intention to end the 1925 agreement. In this note, Soviet Russia demanded the territories of Kars and Ardahan, as well as a privileged status in the Bosporus for the sake of concluding a new cooperation agreement with Turkey. In 1946, Soviet Russia sent two additional harsh diplomatic note sand it repeated its previous claims. Raising internal anxiety stemming from the crisis with the Soviet Russia, a harsh and sceptical attitude towards the domestic leftist forces adopted. As a result of this, the language used by the national and local media in the issues related to the “communism” and “Soviet Russia” became tougher. The negative influence of the foreign policy developments at the agenda of Turkey in that era were covered by the newspapers operating in Trabzon in this period by establishing a negative linkage with the “communism”. The general attitude of the Trabzon media became as the opposition to the Soviets and communism with an open favour of the America and West. This study aims to provide an account of the “communism” perception of the Trabzon public opinion in the period of 1945-1960 by making an analysis basing on the news published in the newspapers of “Halk”, “Trabzon”, “Yeniyol”, “Çaykara”, “Demokrat Çaykara”, “Doğu”,“ Hizmet ” ve “ Hakimiyet”.
