Abstract:

Population movements have significant effects in many areas, including the development process. Although immigration is beneficial to the immigrant under the assumption that it is handled with the motivation of individual interest, it may not be beneficial to society as a whole. Migration, in developing countries, can lead to urban population, unemployment problems and regional imbalances. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the indigenous immigration determinants. In this study, the public spending and the impact of taxes on domestic immigration were discussed in the context of the example of Turkey. According to the dynamic panel data analysis, there was no statistically meaningful relationship between public spending and domestic immigration, while a negative relationship between tax income and domestic immigration was found. In terms of functional classification of public expenditure, there was a reverse relationship between security and defense expenditure and net immigration rate.
