Abstract:

Higher education on education in Turkey is performed at the bachelor, master and doctoral level. These are master's and doctor's graduate education and are concluded with the defence of the theses prepared by the educational sciences or the Institute of Social Sciences, accompanied by the consultants/s. The thesis defense jury is often determined by the thesis consultant’s preference. The purpose of this research is to examine the jury selection of the thesis consultants in the creation of the thesis defense jury of the master and doctoral theses in the field of social information education in Turkey in a visual sense. Qualitative research methods of document analysis used in the study data collection process and analysis; the theses in the field of social information education consisted of four stages, including scan, sampling determination, data processing, data analysis. 1227 master's and 84 doctoral thesis studies have been studied by grouping by the number of thesis-making consultants, universities and consultants. In the study that all the theses performed in the field of social information education formed the universe, using standard sampling from samplings for the purpose of making data meaningful, 4 and more theses managing consultants created the sampling. This connection was examined by the defense jury of the theses led by a total of 91 counselors. The study found that a total of 91 faculty members who conducted 4 and more master and doctoral theses in the field of social information have a strong tendency in the direction of determining the same faculty members as members of the jury while forming a thesis jury. The examined theses were reached by scanning the site of the Higher Education Council (YÖK) "National Thesis Center".
