ONLINE LEARNING READINESS OF ASSOCIATE DEGREE STUDENTS AND THEIR EXPERIENCES REGARDING ONLINE LEARNING PROCESS

In this study, it is aimed to examine the online learning readiness levels of associate degree students and to explore the opinions of the students about their experiences related to the online learning process. For this purpose, the research was carried out in an explanatory sequential design. The research was carried out with the participation of 447 students studying at four different vocational schools affiliated to a state university in Turkey in spring term of 2019-2020 academic year. The data were collected through "Personal Information Form", "Online Learning Readiness Scale" and semi-structured interview form. The data obtained were analyzed by Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis H test, descriptive statistics and content analysis. According to the findings obtained from the research, it was determined that students' online learning readiness level was high and did not differ significantly depending on grade level, gender and age, but according to the years of digital tools use. In addition, according to the experiences of the students regarding the online learning process, most of the students described themselves as active/independent users in terms of their competencies/skills to use online learning tools. Besides, students expressed that the online learning environment reduced motivation in the process in terms of learning motivation and attention deficit was the most common problem with regards to managing individual learning processes.
