Abstract:

The aim of this study is to show the views of both advisory teachers and students on the 4006-Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Institute (TÜBİTAK) scientific exhibition. In the study, the study methods of quality research (example event) have been used. The study was carried out on the basis of volunteering with 15 advisory teachers and 15 students of a school that held the 4006-TÜBİTAK science exhibition in the spring semester of the 2017-2018 educational year. A semi-configured conversation form developed by researchers as a data collection tool has been used. In the analysis of the data, the content analysis method was used. As a result, advisory teachers and students expressed their thoughts about the 4006-TÜBİTAK science exhibition with positive words. The words they use include words such as “leadership”, “distance from monotony”, “entrepreneurship”, “creativity”. These words used by the participants are thematized in relation to the cognitive, sensual and psychomotor areas. Problems undergoing the course of the scientific exhibition have shown the absence of the laboratory, the lack of vehicle equipment, the lack of the required sensitivity of the school administration, the students experience the exam concern and the lack of interest, the intensity of the lesson of teachers and the lack of project experience. In addition, teachers and students have noted that they need specialized support in the project preparation process. Participants also expressed that the 4006-TÜBİTAK science exhibition contributed to personal development in different fields and these fields were gathered under the themes of "positive attitudes and behaviors" and "top-level thinking skills". The participants in the 4006-TÜBİTAK science exhibition regarding the problems they experience have expressed many solutions proposals and the institutions that will implement these solutions have been under the topics of the school administration, the Ministry of National Education (MEB), the provincial Ministry of National Education (MEM).
