Abstract:

Objective: While the gold standard treatment method in Pilonidal sinus disease is still controversial in the treatment of the disease, there are many different views and developed surgical methods. Our aim in this study is to compare the early period results of two surgical techniques in the pilonidal sinuses applied by the Karidakis flep and Limberg flep technique. Instruments and Methods: Our study included a total of 109 patients in January 2009–September 2009 with the diagnosis of sakroxigeal pilonidal sinus and the carydal flep (Group K) and rhomboid excision + Limberg flep (Group L) surgery. Patients with acute pilonidal sinus abscess and those with complicated pilonidal sinus have not been taken to study. Patients who did not come to their controls and were unaccessible for monitoring were also left out of work. Results: In Group L, the average age of the patients was 67 men - 8 women, 26.34 (13-56). The average age of patients in group K was 26 men - 8 women, 27.42 (16-60). Application complaints were often in the form of flow, swelling and pain. 75 of the patients received limberg flebi and 34 male patients were applied flep according to the Karydakis technique. From a total of 75 patients applied to the Limberg flep technique, 4 patients and from a total of 34 patients applied to the Karydakis flep technique, 2 patients developed postoperative infection. From a total of 75 patients applied the Limberg flep technique, three patients were diagnosed with pilonidal sinus. A total of 34 patients applied with the Karydakis flep technique were diagnosed with pilonidal sinus at 1 patient. There is no ideal method that can meet all conditions in Pilonidal sinus disease. The lowest null rates in literature are in the rhomboid excision and limberg flep technique method. We believe that the carydeal method can be used as an alternative to the Limberg flep method in the treatment of pilonidal sinus without making a change in the time of hospitalization, late complications and nickness rates.
