Öğrencilerin nesnel ve eleştirel düşünmesinde, problem çözmesinde, sebep-sonuç ilişkilerini sağlayabilmesinde ve sayısal düşünme becerisini geliştirmesinde geometri konuları önemli bir rol üstlenmektedir. Geometri, şekiller ve cisimler içermesi nedeniyle öğrenciye yaşadığı hayatı daha yakın bir şekilde tanımasına, yaşadığı hayatın değerini anımsamasına yardımcı olur. Ayrıca hoş vakit geçirmek ve matematiği sevmek için geometri konuları katkıda da bulunur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, sınıf öğretmenlerinin geometrik düşünme düzeylerini bazı değişkenlere göre incelemektir. Bu araştırmaya toplamda 131 sınıf öğretmeni katılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Antalya Kaş ilçesinde görev yapan Sınıf Öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmacı katılımcıların geometrik düşünme düzeylerini belirlemek için çoktan seçmeli bir geometri testi uygulamıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlar bağlamında çalışmaya gönüllü olarak katılan 131 sınıf öğretmeninin Van Hiele Geometrik Düşünme Düzeyi Puanları en çok Düzey 1’de (n=102) olduğu en az ise Düzey 5’de (n=1) görülmektedir. Araştırmada cinsiyet, istihdam, mesleki tecrübe, mezun olunan branşa göre anlamlı bir fark bulunmazken, farklı öğrenim durumlarına sahip öğretmenlerin Van Hiele Geometri Testi sonuçları Düzey 3’te anlamlı bir fark göstermektedir. Lisansüstü öğrenim durumuna sahip öğretmenlerin ön lisans öğrenim durumuna sahip olan öğretmenlere göre geometrik düşünme düzeylerine ilişkin sonuçlar daha yüksektir.
Geometry subjects play an important role in students' objective and critical thinking, in problem solving, in providing cause-resultation relationships and in developing their numerical thinking skills. Because it contains geometry, shapes and objects, it helps the student to know the life he has lived closer, to remember the value of the life he has lived. It also contributes to geometry subjects to enjoy and love mathematics. The aim of this study is to study the geometric thinking levels of classmates according to certain variables. The study included 131 teachers. This research is a group of class teachers working in Antalya Kaş district. The researcher applied a already selective geometry test to determine the levels of geometric thinking of the participants. In the context of the results obtained from the study, 131 class teachers who participated voluntarily in the study have the highest Geometric Thought Level Points at Level 1 (n=102) and at least at Level 5 (n=1). While the study does not find a significant difference from gender, employment, professional experience, graduated industry, the Van Hiele Geometry Test results of teachers with different learning conditions show a significant difference in Level 3. Teachers with postgraduate education status are higher than teachers with pre-graduate education status with geometric thinking levels.
