Abstract:

In this research, which aims to examine the primary school 4th grade social studies textbook in terms of universal values, the distribution of universal values in the book and how they are associated with learning areas are examined. In this study, which was designed with a case study, one of the qualitative research methods, the document analysis method was used. "Primary School Social Studies 4 Textbook", which was decided to be used as a textbook for five years by the Ministry of Education Board of Education and Discipline, constitutes the basic document/data source of the research. The data obtained from the social studies textbook were analyzed by descriptive analysis. In the analysis of the data, using the MAXQDA 11.01 program, a table was prepared, each of which expresses the value with a different color, and the density status of the values in the book was revealed; In addition, a frequency table has been prepared regarding the repetition frequencies of the values in the book. In the research; the values of responsibility, solidarity and patriotism are included in the social studies textbook; It has been determined that these values are followed by the values of respect, love, benevolence, sensitivity, savings, freedom, hard work, giving importance to family unity, equality, independence, honesty, peace, scientificity, justice and aesthetics, respectively.
