Abstract:

Comparing the performance of the banks by assessing the performance of the banks within a certain time period provides the various departments (banking management, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders) with the financial status of the banks with important information. This study was prepared for the period between 2014-2018 in order to evaluate the performance of public capital development and investment banks in the Turkish banking sector. The study used methods such as SD, MABAC and WASPAS to evaluate bank performance. In the first phase, the priority weights of the criteria were determined using SD, while in the second phase, the performance rankings of the banks were made with the application of MABAC and WASPAS methods. According to the results, Turkish Eximbank is the highest-performance bank throughout the analysis period. Therefore, this outcome indicates that large-scale operating banks can benefit from their scale economies, minimizing their various risks and interest rates, thus gaining a competitive advantage in the sector and improving their performance.
