STRES KAYNAKLARININ KÜLTÜREL FARKLILIKLARLA İLİŞKİSİ: UŞAK ÜNİVERSİTESİ ÖĞRENCİLERİNE YÖNELİK BİR UYGULAMA

Günümüzde bireyler, çevresel koşulların hızlı değişimi, geleceğin belirsizliği ve diğer birçok faktör neticesinde nedenleri, sonuçları ve çözüm yolları bakımından oldukça karmaşık bir süreci içeren ve günlük hayatın her aşamasının kaçınılmaz bir parçası durumuna gelmiş, bireylerin performanslarını ve yaşam kalitelerini önemli ölçüde etkilemekte olan stres kavramı ile karşı karşıya kalmaktadırlar. Özellikle Üniversiteye geçiş aşaması birçok öğrenci açısından stresli bir süreci oluşturmakla birlikte öğrenciler bu süreçten farklı düzeylerde etkilenmektedirler. Bazı öğrenciler için bu süreç kolay atlatılabilir bir durumken, bazı öğrenciler içinse bu süreç, yıkıcı etkilere dahi neden olabilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ülkemizdeki yükseköğretim düzeyindeki öğrencilerin stres kaynaklarını belirlemek ve David Robotham’ın (2008) yükseköğretim düzeyindeki öğrencilerin stres kaynaklarının belirlenmesine yönelik olarak hazırlamış olduğu çalışmasında yer alan stres kaynaklarını, ülkemiz yükseköğretim düzeyindeki öğrencilerin stres kaynakları ile karşılaştırarak stres kaynaklarının her iki kültüre ilişkin farklılıklardan etkilenip etkilenmediğini belirlemek ve öğrencilerin stres düzeylerini ölçmektir. Bu kapsamda çalışmanın uygulama aşamasında Uşak Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören öğrenciler arasından basit rassal örnekleme yöntemi ile toplam 382 kişilik bir örneklem seçilerek bu öğrencilerin stres kaynaklarının belirlenmesine ve stres kaynaklarının değerlendirilmesine ilişkin olarak anket çalışmasına yer verilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda Ülkemizde yükseköğretim düzeyindeki öğrenciler David Robotham’ın çalışmasında da yer alan sınav dönemlerinde yaşanan gerginlik, üniversiteye geçiş süreci, mali kaynakların yetersizliği ve aileden farklı bir ülkede veya bölgede eğitim alma gibi kategorilerde strese maruz kalmaktadırlar. Analizler incelendiğinde, elde edilen veriler, stres kaynaklarının kültürel bakımdan farklılık göstermediği ve yükseköğretim düzeyindeki öğrencilerin her iki kültürde aynı stres kaynaklarından etkilendikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

Today, individuals face the concept of stress, which, as a result of the rapid change of environmental conditions, the uncertainty of the future and many other factors, involves a very complex process in terms of causes, consequences and solutions and has become an inevitable part of every phase of daily life, significantly affecting the performance and quality of life of individuals. Especially the transition phase to the university creates a stressful process from many students’ point of view while students are influenced by this process at different levels. For some students, this process is easily overcome, while for some students, this process can even lead to devastating effects. The aim of this study is to identify the stress sources of high school students in our country and to determine the stress sources included in the study that David Robotham (2008) prepared to identify the stress sources of high school students, compared to the stress sources of high school students in our country, to determine whether the stress sources are affected by the differences in both cultures and to measure the stress levels of students. When the analyses were studied, the obtained data found that stress sources did not differ culturally and that high school students were influenced by the same stress sources in both cultures.

Nowadays, due to the rapid change in environmental conditions, uncertainty about the future and many other factors relating to its causes, consequences and solutions, the individual is subject to a very complex process and has become an inevitable part of every phase of daily life, with the concept of stress significantly affecting the individual's performance and quality of life. In particular, the transition to university is a stressful process for many students, but students are affected by this process at various levels. For some students this process is easy to overcome, while for others it can even have destructive effects. The aim of this study is to identify the sources of stress among students at the university level in our country and to identify the sources of stress in the David Robotham study "Stress among university students" (2008): Towards a research agenda". The aim is to determine whether the sources of stress are influenced by cultural differences by comparing students' sources of stress with the level of the level, and to measure students' stress levels. In this context, during the application phase of the study, a sample of 382 people was selected from the students studying at the university Uşak and a questionnaire study was carried out to determine the sources of stress among these students and to evaluate their sources of stress. As a result of the study, students at university level in our country are exposed to stress in categories such as tension during the examination David Robotham periods included in the study, transition to university, insufficient financial resources and education in a country or region other than the family. The analysis of the analyzes concludes that the data obtained, the sources of stress do not differ culturally and students at university level are affected by the same sources of stress in both cultures.
