Abstract:

The Ottoman Empire is known in 19th century. Since the second quarter of the century, the population counting has begun throughout the country. The main objective of this century’s population counting is to provide soldiers for the newly established Asâkir-i Mansûre-i Muhammadiye army. However, it is known as the classical period of the centuries, the vibration, the avarism, etc. Except for the 18th. In the century there are various population countings and writings for the applications made for the purpose of the supply of soldiers and made under the name of nefir-i am. There are also population countings that have been made in addition to the military supply and in the same century in particular for the purpose of preventing the homogeneity activities in Rumeli.

In this study, in Rumeli, countings were made for the writing of soldiers and the follow-up of the equatorians. In addition to these in 1826 the movements made towards the Evlâd-i Fâtihân neferat in Rumeli were also studied, which can also be claimed to be the first example of the population counting in the Ottoman State with the 1826 Istanbul count. From here it can be said that the disturbances mentioned in the study and which belong to different dates are a kind of practice and pioneers of the general population counting that begins in 1830-1831.
