Abstract:

From the language of power to the language of power: A reading on the son Atay's novel "The Untouched"

Abstract:

The most powerful weapon mankind has since the first day of existence until now—which gives him power, authority, power, the possibility of domination over the other, and sometimes praises man and sometimes meant his life—is the language. When it comes to art and literature, the sphere of autonomy of the language has been the center of discussion for centuries and a wide literature has formed in this field. For this reason, every ideology has used art, literature, and of course language in its own field of power. This sometimes manifests itself as the language of power or the literature of power, but the language and literature have opened a self-sufficient space and have become a structure that we can call the power of language or the power of literature. When we look in history, we have seen the acculations of this, especially in the periods where the ideological voice dominates, we have witnessed the art works that have existed by the voice, the color, the shape of power. The other is the language and the other is the language and the other is the language. In this process, the language that establishes its own power, is not desired or neglected by the judge language of the time. Those who wanted to take place in the solid realism of the 1970s and who stood in front of all the voices of the judge, the Son of Atay's Untouched, also took the fortune of it and was neglected by the authorities of the time. It established itself with the rejection of this language, which is also given by the language of the Tutunayan who stands in front of all kinds of political, literary, linguistic power, and Atay, with the ironic language, presented a parody of Turkish modernization to the reader. Our main objective in this study is to show the reader that the modernization project is destroyed by the ironic narration of the absolute language based on scientific rationalism, and that this mind is also problematized by detailed examination.

Abstract:

The most powerful weapon that mankind has ever possessed from the very first day of existence-opening up power, authority and power to him, offering him the opportunity to dominate over the other, sometimes glorifying man and sometimes wanting his life - is undoubtedly his tongue. When it comes to art and literature, the area of autonomy of language has been the focus of debate for centuries and a broad literature has been formed in this area. That is why every ideology has used art, literature and, of course, language in its own sphere of power. Although this is sometimes manifested as the language of power or the literature of power, language and literature have also been able to open an autonomous space for itself and have taken on a structure that we can call the power of language or the power of literature. When we look at it in history, we have seen the axulamels of it, and we have witnessed the works of art that have existed by covering itself with the voice, color and form of power, especially during the periods when the ideological voice prevailed. Of course, there have been other situations and the language has been able to establish its own power. In this process, the language that established its own power was not wanted to be heard or ignored by the prevailing language of its era. Oğuz Atay’s novel “Tutunamayanlar”, who wanted to take their place in the rigid realism of the 1970s and stood in the face of all the dominant voices, also got their share of this and were ignored by the authorities of the period. The language of the “Tutunamayanlar”, who stood against all kinds of political, literary and linguistic power, established itself with the rejection of this language, and Atay presented a parody of the Turkish modernization with his ironic language to the reader. Our main aim in this study is to show to the reader that the absolutist language based on scientific rationality of the modernization project has been destroyed by Atay's ironic expression, as well as this mentality has been problematized by taking a detailed account of it.
