Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study its validity and reliability by adapting the Emotional Condition Consciousness Scale (DDFÖ) developed by Salovey, Mayer, Goldman, Turvey and Palfai (1995) to Turkish. The sample of the study consists of 646 (420 women, 226 men) undergraduate students who are studying in a state university’s various faculty. The verifying factor analysis method has been used to test the structural validity of the measurement. The analysis found that the scale formed a three-factor structure defined as "emotional attention", "emotional clarity" and "emotional repair". According to the results of the internal consistency analysis determined by Cronbach alpha of the scale, the reliability ratings were determined as .73 for emotional attention, .70 for emotional clarity and .73 for emotional repair. As a result, according to validity and reliability studies, this three-factor scale has been determined as a valid and reliable measurement tool.
