Abstract:

Meta-sentez, known as the meta-analysis of the quality, is also known as synthesis. Meta-synthetics is a method used to make a general assessment and interpretation by addressing the studies on the same or similar topics, with a qualitative understanding and critical approach, to obtain different and original ideas and to express the facts more clearly. This study, in Turkey, aims to study the theses and articles studied in secondary school 6th and 7th classes related to social information education using the meta-synthetic method; also, such a study has been attempted to determine what a tendency exists in social information education. In this study, 9 articles studied between 2008-2019 and 21 theses were discussed and a total of 30 studies were studied. In determining the studies to be included in the research, TÜBİTAK ULAKBIM, the Higher Education Institute (YÖK) National Thesis Scanning Center, the Google Academic Search Engine and the Journal Park databases have been used. The research questions and the purpose of the study are clearly presented in order to keep the validity and reliability level at the desired level. The results of the research were analyzed in terms of the targeted goals related to Social Information Education, the methods used, sampling groups, data collection tools and the results obtained in the study. The data collected is interpreted through frequencies and tables. In the 30 studies reviewed, it was often found that topics such as Social Information Course and Workbook, Teacher's Guide Book, Social Information Teaching Program, Teacher's and Student perceptions on Social Information Education were emphasized and that many deficiencies in these aspects were identified and proposed to address them.
