Hıristiyan geleneğinde İsa’nın annesi Bakire Meryem’den sonra ona en yakın olan kadının Mecdelli Meryem olduğunu ifade etmek gerekir. Yeni Ahit’te onun İsa’ya görevinde yardımcı olan kadınlardan biri olduğu ve çarmıh sonrasında İsa’nın dirilişini diğer havarilere haber veren kişi olduğu belirtilmektedir. Kanonik kaynaklarda kendisi hakkında çok fazla bilgi verilmese de özellikle kanonik olmayan kaynaklar açısından Mecdelli Meryem’in erken dönem Hıristiyan topluluğu içerisinde çok önemli bir konuma sahip olduğunu söyleyebiliriz. Nitekim Mecdelli Meryem, Hıristiyalığın ilk yüzyıllarına ait ve İsa’nın dirilişi sonrasında havarileri ile konuşmalarını içeren bazı metinlerde de temel konuşmacılardan biri olarak dikkati çekmektedir. Hatta manevi hakikatleri anlama noktasında İsa tarafından sık sık övgüye mazhar olmaktadır. Yine Hıristiyanlığın ilk yüzyıllarına ait kaynaklarda bazı erkek havarilerin Mecdelli Meryem’in bu konumundan ciddi rahatsızlık duyduğu ve İsa’ya tepki gösterdiği de vurgulanmaktadır. Öte yandan Hıristiyanlık tarihine baktığımızda uzunca bir süre Mecdelli Meryem’in sonradan tövbe etmiş günahkâr bir kadın olarak tasvir edildiğini görürüz. Son dönemlerde bu anlayışın yanlışlığı resmi olarak kabul edilse de günümüzde halen Mecdelli Meryem’in gerçek kimliği önemli bir tartışma konusudur. Mecdelli Meryem İsa’nın eşi midir yoksa çok değer verdiği bir havarisi mi? İşte bu çalışmada hem kanonik hem de kanonik olmayan Hıristiyan kaynaklarında Mecdelli Meryem’in nasıl tasvir edildiği mukayese edilerek Mecdelli Meryem’in Hıristiyanlık tarihindeki yeri ve öneminin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmaktadır.
In the Christian tradition, it is necessary to express that the woman who is closest to him after the Mother of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, is the Messiah Mary. The New Testament states that he was one of the women who Jesus in his mission and that he was the one who announced the resurrection of Jesus after the cross to other apostles. Although there is not much information about him in the Canonical sources, we can say that, especially in the non-Canonical sources, the Messiah Mary has a very important position in the early Christian community. Indeed, the Messiah Mary is considered one of the main speakers in some texts that belong to the early centuries of Christianity and include conversations with his apostles after the resurrection of Jesus. Even in the point of understanding of spiritual truths, Jesus is often praised to praise. In the sources of the early centuries of Christianity, it is also emphasized that some male apostles were seriously troubled by this position of Mary the Messiah and reacted to Jesus. On the other hand, when we look at the history of Christianity, we see that for a long time Mary of the Mecdalis was described as a later repented sinful woman. Although the errors of this understanding have been officially recognised in recent times, the true identity of Mary is still an important topic of debate today. Is Mary the wife of Jesus, or is she a messenger? It is in this study that the aim of comparing how the Messiah Mary was depicted in both canonical and non-canonical Christian sources is to identify the place and importance of the Messiah Mary in the history of Christianity.
