Abstract:

Although mother language is a fast and effortless process, second language acquisition/learning includes some difficulties for many individuals. Especially, communicating with somebody via foreign language can be extremely long and tiring for adults. For this reason, in this study it was aimed to determine the errors made by individuals who learn Turkish as a first or second language. This study was conducted on 20 learners of Turkish as a second foreign language and 20 learners of Turkish as a second language. In order to determine the student errors, the six pictures, which are related to each other and allowed to make stories, were given to the students and they were asked to produce Turkish sentences describing the situation or event in these visuals. Content analysis technique was used for analyzing data. At the result, it was seen that students who are learning Turkish as a second language mostly made linguistic errors which kind of syntactic. Also, it was found that students who are learning Turkish as a second foreign language often made linguistic errors which kind of lexical and grammatical.
