Ortaokul 8. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Akıllı Tahta ve Cep Telefonu Hakkında Görüşleri: Metafor Analizi Çalışması

Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin teknolojik materyallerden olan “Akıllı tahta” ve “Cep telefonu”  kavramlarına ilişkin sahip oldukları düşünceleri metaforlar aracılığıyla tespit etmektir. Araştırmaya 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılı güz döneminde, İstanbul ilinde bir ortaokulda 75 kız ve 91 erkek olmak üzere toplam 166 ortaokul 8. sınıf öğrencisi gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Araştırmada, verilerin toplanması, analizi ve yorumlanmasında nitel araştırma modeli kullanılmıştır. Katılımcılardan teknolojik materyallere ilişkin ne tür düşüncelere sahip olduklarını ortaya çıkarmak için “Akıllı Tahta/Cep Telefonu ……….. gibidir / benzer Çünkü …” cümlelerini tamamlamaları istenmiştir. Araştırmada her bir kavrama ait elde edilen veriler içerik analiz tekniğiyle çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, akıllı tahta kavramına ait 31 ve cep telefonu kavramına ait 50 farklı metafor elde edilmiştir. Akıllı tahta kavramına ilişkin en fazla öğretmen, kitap, televizyon, bilgisayar, bilgi evi, tablet, ışık ve okul metaforları ve cep telefonu kavramına ilişkin dost, oyuncak, organ, insan, araba, saat, su, kitap, hayat ve kurtarıcı metaforları tespit edilmiştir. Araştırmada, akıllı tahta kavramına yönelik geliştirilen metaforlar en fazla öğrenmeye yardımcı araç ile kullanım amacına göre değişen bir araç kavramsal kategorileri altında toplanmıştır. Cep telefonu kavramına yönelik geliştirilen metaforlar en fazla kullanım amacına göre değişen bir araç ile yaşam için vazgeçilmez bir araç kategorileri altında toplanmıştır.

Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to identify the thoughts of high school 8th grade students about the concepts of "smart plate" and "chip phone" from technological materials through metaphors. In the research 2017-2018 educational year, a secondary school in the province of Istanbul involved a total of 166 secondary school 8th class students, including 75 girls and 91 men, voluntarily. In the research, a quality research model has been used in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. Participants were asked to complete the phrases "Smart Table/Cep Phone is like .......... / similar; Because ..." to reveal what kind of thoughts they have about technological materials. The data obtained from each conception in the research was analyzed by content analysis technique. The study found 31 different metaphors of the concept of smart plate and 50 different metaphors of the concept of mobile phone. Most of the teachers, books, television, computers, information houses, tablets, light and school metaphors and friends, toys, organs, humans, cars, clock, water, books, life and rescue metaphors related to the concept of mobile phone have been identified. In the study, the metaphors developed toward the concept of smart sheet were gathered under the conceptual categories of a tool that varies according to the purpose of use and the tool that helps to learn more. The metaphors developed for the concept of mobile phones have been gathered under categories of a vehicle that varies mostly according to the purpose of use and a vehicle that is essential for life.

Metaphor Analysis Study Of Middle School 8th Grade Students About Smart Board and Mobile Phone

The aim of this research is to determine the thoughts of the 8th grade students of the middle school about the concepts of "smart board" and "mobile phone" which are technological materials through metaphors. A total of 166 middle school 8th grade students, 75 female and 91 male, participated in the research voluntarily in the fall semester of 2017-2018 academic year in a middle school in Istanbul province. In the research, qualitative research model was used in the collection, analysis and evaluation of data. Participants were asked to complete the following sentence in order to find out what kind of thoughts they had on technological materials; 'Smart Board / Mobile Phone is like ......... .. / similar; Because ... ' In the research, the obtained data of each concept was analyzed by content analysis technique. As a result of the research, 31 different smart board concepts and 50 different metaphors of mobile phone concept have been obtained. Teachers, books, television, computers, information houses, tablets, lights and school metaphors have been identified at most in terms of smart board concept. The metaphors of friendship, toys, organs, people, cars, clocks, water, books, life and rescuers have been identified at the most in relation to the concept of mobile phones. Metaphors of the smart board concept are grouped under five conceptual categories that have common features associated with each other. In the study, the metaphors developed for the concept of smart board were collected under a tool conceptual category that varies according to the purpose of use and the tool to help most. The metaphors developed for the concept of mobile phone are gathered under an indispensable tool categories for life with a tool that changes according to the purpose of use.
