Tüketim çağımızda en çok tartışılan konulardan biri olup, geçmişte taşıdığı anlamla günümüzde ifade ettiği anlam birbirinden farklılık göstermektedir. Postmodern dönemle birlikte, tüketim ekonomik ve insan ihtiyacına dayalı bir faaliyet olmanın çok ötesine geçmiştir. Modern dönemde ihtiyaca dayalı tüketen, rasyonel kararlar alan ve tek tip ürünle tatmin olabilen tüketici kimlikleri yerini zevk ve haz duymak için tüketen ve kendine saygınlık kazandıracak ürünleri tercih eden postmodern tüketici kimliklerine bırakmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, modern dönemden postmodern döneme tüketimin, tüketimin evrimini ve bu evrimi ekonomi politik ekseninde açıklamak ve postmodern tüketim anlayışının yarattığı tüketim kalıpları üzerinde durmaktır.
Consumption is one of the most discussed topics in our era, and the meaning it has in the past is different from the meaning it has in today. With the postmodern era, consumption has gone far beyond being an economic and human-based activity. Consumer identities that consume on the basis of need in modern times, make rational decisions and can be satisfied with a single type of product, leave their place to postmodern consumer identities that consume for pleasure and pleasure and prefer products that will gain self-righteousness. The main objective of this study is to explain the evolution of consumption from the modern era to the postmodern era and this evolution in the economic political axis and to stand on the consumption patterns created by the postmodern consumption concept.

In the modern era, consumer identities, which consume what they need, who make rational decisions and can be satisfied with a uniform product, leave their place to postmodern consumer identities who prefer to consume and enjoy self-esteem to enjoy their pleasure. The main purpose of this work is to explain the postmodern consumption of the modern period, the evolution of consumption and its evolution on the political axis of the economy and the consumption patterns created by the postmodern consumption concept.
