Çalışma Türkiye’de sosyal bilimlerde yöntem olgusunun gelişimi ve işleyişini ve alanda görülen sorunları ele almaktadır. Nitel belge çözümleme deseni ile incelenen 34 kitapta gözlenen başlıca sorunlar şunlardır: Kitapların başlıkları içeriği yansıtmakta yetersiz kalmıştır. Kitaplarda çok sayıda kavramsal tutarsızlıklar gözlenmiştir. Kitap yazarlarından bilimsel yönteme ama özellikle bilim felsefesine özel ilgi duyanlar azınlıktadır. İdeolojik gerilimin yoğunlaştığı 1970’lerde Türk yazarların yazdığı kitap sayısında artış görülmüş ve bunlar arasında istatistik giderek ağırlık kazanmıştır. 1980’lerden itibaren ise bilim felsefesi ve yöntembilim tartışmalarına yer verilmeye başlanmıştır. Ancak bilimin mahiyetine ilişkin tartışmalar pozitivist kavramlarla sınırlı kaldığı gibi yazarların bu konulardaki açıklamalarında eksiklikler ve çelişkiler görülmüştür. Kitaplarda nadiren monografi ve örnek olaylardan söz edilmiş olsa da bu yıllarda yazılmış herhangi bir nitel yöntem kitabına rastlanmamıştır. Yazarlar bilgi aktarırken sorgulama, eleştirme ve örtük ilişkileri açığa çıkarma bakımından yeterince özenli davranmamıştır. Bundan ötürü ders kitaplarında kavram, tanım ve tekniklere ilişkin hatalar yeniden üretilerek ve yaygınlaştırılarak tekrar diğer yöntem kitaplarına ve bilim camiasına aktarılmıştır. Kalite konusunda mesafe alınmasına karşın ders kitabı yazımında aktarma ve öykünme aşamalarından özgün bilimsel bilgi üretme evresine geçişte zorluklar yaşanmıştır. Çalışmanın bulgu ve önerilerinin bu alanda yeni araştırmaların yürütülmesi için bir zemin oluşturacağı umulmaktadır.
This study deals with the development and functioning of the phenomenon of method and the problems observed in the field of social sciences in Türkiye. The main problems observed in the 34 books examined using qualitative document analysis are as follows: The titles of the books inadequately reflect their contents. Many conceptual inconsistencies were observed in the books. Few of the book authors showed a particular interest in the scientific method and, especially in the philosophy of science. In the 1970s, a time of heightened ideological tensions, the number of books written by Turkish authors increased, and among them statistics gradually gained prominence. From the 1980s, discussions on philosophy of science and methodology began to appear. However, discussions on the nature of science remained limited to positivist concepts, and authors showed inadequacies and contradictions in their explanations of these topics. Although books occasionally mention monographs and case study researches, there were no mention of any qualitative method books written during these years. Authors did not make enough effort to question, criticize, and expose implicit relationships when conveying knowledge. As a result, errors in concepts, definitions, and techniques were reproduced and disseminated in textbooks and in the scientific community. Although progress was made in terms of quality of the textbooks, there were difficulties in moving from the phase of transmission and imitation to the production of original scientific knowledge. It is hoped that the results and recommendations of the study will provide a basis for conducting new research in this area.
