Abstract:

One of the important characteristics of gifted individuals is that they are perfectionists. The aim of this study is to examine the perfectionism levels of gifted students according to gender, talent area, school level, number of siblings and birth order. The study group of the study consists of 178 gifted children and adolescents who attend Science and Art Centers (BİLSEM) from different education levels. The data of the study were collected with the Personal Information Form and the Child and Adolescent Perfectionism Scale. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, t-test and one-way analysis of variance technique were used. According to the research findings, it was determined that there was no significant difference between the self-directed perfectionism scores of the students in favor of gifted female students, and there was no significant difference according to gender regarding the social-based perfectionism levels of the students. There was no significant difference between gifted students' self-directed perfectionism scores and socially based perfectionism scores according to talent area, school level, birth order and number of siblings. Seminars can be organized for students, families and teachers to develop the perfectionism characteristics of gifted students.
