Abstract:

In this research, the learning propensity of the students studying in the associate’s degree program were revealed. Hence, whether students' learning approaches change according to their gender status, grade level, academic achievement levels, family income status and the type of program being studied were analyzed. In the research, “Learning Approaches Scale” was used as a data collection method. SPSS V24 statistical package program was used in data analysis. The mean scores of students' learning tendencies for surface learning, strategic learning and deep learning were (x̄=63,54), (x̄=61,74), (x̄=54,45) respectively. However, in general, it was observed that students' preferences for any types of learning approaches did not change according to their socio-demographic characteristics. Yet, students with low academic success score, significantly paid attention to the deep learning approach. Likewise, the deep learning approach score averages of the Vocational School of Health Services and Vocational School of Social Sciences students was significantly higher than the students of Vocational School of Technical Sciences. Besides, the average scores of female students, sophomores, and students with high family income found to be higher.
