Yatılı Bölge Ortaokulu Öğrencilerinin STEM Alanlarına Yönelik Kariyer Farkındalığının Araştırılması

Abstract:

Bu araştırmada, yatılı bölge ortaokulu öğrencilerinin fen, teknoloji, mühendislik, matematik (STEM)) alanlarında kariyer geliştirmeye yönelik farkındalıkları, ilgileri ve bu ilgilerinin dayandığı unsurların belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırmada karma yöntemler araştırma desenlerinden keşfedici ardışık desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu yatılı bölge ortaokulunda (YBO) 8. sınıfta öğrenim gören 92 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın nitel verileri doküman (anket) ve odak grup görüşme yöntemi ile toplanmış, betimsel ve sürekli karşılaştırmalı analiz tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir. Nicel veriler “STEM Mesleklerine Yönelik İlgi Ölçeği” ile toplanmış ve betimsel istatistik tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın nitel verileri ile az sayıda öğrencinin STEM alanlarındaki mesleklere yönelmek istediğini, nicel veriler ise öğrencilerin STEM alanlarına kariyer geliştirmede ilgili olduğunu göstermiştir.

Abstract:

This study aims to identify the awareness, interests and the elements on which these interests are based in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and the high school students. In the research, karma methods have been used in the discovery consecutive patterns from the research patterns. The study’s work group consists of 92 students studying in 8th grade in the YBO. The quality data of the research was collected through the document (anquête) and focus group conversation method, analyzed by the illustrative and continuously comparative analysis technique. The quantum data was collected with the "STEM Career Interest Scale" and analyzed with the visual statistical technique. The study’s quality data showed that a small number of students want to turn to occupations in the STEM fields, while quantitative data showed that students are related to the STEM fields in their career development.

Investigation Of Career Awareness Of Stem Fields Of The Regional Boarding Secondary Schools Students

In this research, it is aimed to determine the awareness, interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematic (STEM) career of the Regional Boarding Secondary Schools students. Research has used exploratory sequential design from mixed research methods. The study group of the research consisted of 92 students in the 8th grade in the Regional Boarding Secondary Schools. Qualitative data of the study were collected through a document (questionnaire) and focus group interview. The qualitative data were analysed with descriptive and constant comparative analysis technique. Quantitative data were collected with "STEM Career Interest Survey" and analysed with descriptive statistical technique. The qualitative data of the research showed that a small number of students wanted to go to professions in the STEM field and quantitative data showed that students are interested in developing a career in STEM fields.
