Abstract:

Reading attitude refers to the positive or negative attitude and attitude that the individual shows about reading. The determination of the reading attitude will enable you to understand the factors that influence the reader's reading ability. This study was conducted with the aim of studying the attitudes of elementary fourth-class students towards reading. The attitude towards reading, the enjoyment of reading and academic reading are addressed according to the subdimensions. The study was conducted in the 2016-2017 educational year with the participation of 165 students in the district centre of Kırıkkale. In the study, the data was used to collect the "Read-to-Read Attitude Scale". With a quarterly likert score, each student of this scale received an average of 20 minutes of response. For the analysis of the data, a statistical program was used on the computer. According to the results obtained by the analysis, primary school has a positive attitude towards the students of the fourth class. Also, girls students have a higher level of reading attitude than boys students. Students' attitude towards reading does not make any significant differences according to their parents' educational status. Based on the results of the research, scan studies in different studies can study the reasons that lead to negative reading attitudes.
