Abstract:

Araştırmanın konusu olan Mehmet Baha Pars, 1877 yılında Bursa, Karaşeyh mahallesinde, Şeyh Hacı Baha Efendi ile Halime Hanım'ın oğlu olarak doğmuştur. Öğretmen, şairdir. Yayımladığı “Âlem-i Musiki” dergisi, Osmanlı Devleti’nde neşredilen ilk Osmanlıca müzik dergisidir. Aynı zamanda kendisi, operet besteleyen ilk Türk bestecidir. Bursa İdadisi'ni tamamlamasının ardından yüksek öğretimini İstanbul Aksaray'daki Dârüttedrîs Mektebi'nde 1897 yılında tamamlamıştır. 1897 yılında bitirdi. 1902 yılında ise Beyoğlu'ndaki Alyans İzraelit (Alliance Israélite) mektebinden mezun olmuştur. Doğduğu yer olan Bursa'ya döndüğünde, babasının vefatı üzerine Ahmed Baba Tekkesinin Şeyhliğine getirilmiştir. Şeyhlik görevinin yanında kentteki müzik hareketinin öncülerinden birisidir. Çalışmanın tamamında, birincil kaynaklar olarak arşiv vesikaları, telif ve tetkik eserler, anılarla ve Mehmet Baha Pars’ın hayattaki tanıdıkları/akrabalarının paylaştığı bilgilerden istifade edilmiştir.

Mehmet Baha Pars, the subject of the research, was born in Bursa, Karaseyh neighborhood in 1877, as the son of Şeyh Hacı Baha Efendi and Halime Hanım. He is teacher and poet. The magazine "Alem-i Musiki", which he published, is the first Ottoman music magazine published in the Ottoman Empire. He is also the first Turkish composer to compose an operetta. After completing Bursa High School, he went to Istanbul and graduated from Darüttedris School in Aksaray, where he studied, in 1897. In 1902, he graduated from Alyans İzraelit (Alliance Israélite) in Beyoğlu. When he returned to Bursa, which is back in town, he became the sheikh of the Ahmed Baba Lodge upon his father's death. Besides his duty as a sheikh, he became one of the pioneers of the music movement in the city. In the whole study, archive documents, primary sources, copyright and research works, memories and information shared by Mehmet Baha Pars's acquaintances/relatives in life were used as a primary resources.
