Abstract:

Ad is one of the most basic sub-divisions of science that forms the "land name science". Land names are among the important language elements that play a role in the tracking of changes that land, place and geographical shapes have taken from the past to the present in a rapidly changing world. The field of language science which is subject to the study of the land names is called "toponimi". Land names are one of the key elements that form a starting point for researchers in the field in the discovery of a country’s socio-cultural and economic characteristics. One of the most famous places in the world is the village names. The village names see a fundamental bridge role in the politicalization of the place, the transfer of culture and the establishment of the connection between the future and the future. For this reason, one of the most important elements to be protected in bringing the geography into the homeland is the names of the settlements. In Turkey, the villages, which are the first stages of the administrative body, are the smallest administration unit. The names of the villages, which have continuous settlements throughout history, are of great importance in terms of the lighting of the near-history of the island of Turkey. The town of Kastamonu has been an intense settlement area from the First Age to the present day. Therefore, it is possible to find the traces of many civilizations that have reached to the present day in Kastamonu. Kastamonu, which is the subject of work in this context, is an ancient Turkish place that has a great importance in terms of Turkish culture and civilization history. Since the beginning of the Turkish eruption in Anadolu, one of the safest areas of Anadolu has never been occupied by Kastamonu. The Turkish existence in Kastamonu continued uninterrupted, and the Turkish national culture and traditions have been lively lived from the Anadolu Selçuklu period to the present day. The best of these orders show themselves in the names of the village. Therefore, the Kastamonu area is one of the important places to be studied in terms of Turkish culture and settlement history, including Turkology studies. Because of this importance, the Castamonu area was chosen as a work area. There are 177 towns registered in the central district of Kastamonu. In the study, the names of these villages were classified as lexic-semantic. As a result, the influence of Turkish national culture and traditions has been clearly seen. From the five-elements, the names of persons, lakap, title and status, and the names of the villages formed by Turkish size, family, community and family names have been found to be more than the others. In the area, in addition to human characteristics, the names that show the geography, location, direction and status of the village based on a geographical basis are also often used. Depending on the influence of geography on human life, the geographical elements of water and topography have shown themselves in the village names. In the study, when the names of the villages are studied in terms of structure and origin, it is understood that the most unified villages are named. A total of 177 villages were 101 (57.1) unified, 36 (20.3%) simple and 40 (22.6) derived. The name of the village is used in the form of a full-fledged settlement.
