Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinin bilim ve barış ilişkisine yönelik algıları ile cinsiyetleri arasındaki ilişkiyi kendi çizdikleri resimler aracılığıyla incelemektir. Araştırma, 2014-2015 eğitim-öğretim yılı bahar döneminde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Kocaeli ili İzmit merkez ilçesinden, ölçüt örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilmiş olan üç ortaokulun çalışmaya katılım gösteren 102 ( 53 kız- 49 erkek) beşinci sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Betimsel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeli kullanılarak gerçekleştirilen çalışmanın verileri çiz ve anlat tekniği ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin toplanması sırasında, öğrencilerden, bilim ve barış ilişkisi ile ilgili bir resim çizmeleri ve çizimlerindeki bilim ve barış ilişkisini yazmaları istenmiştir. Çizimler, yorumlayıcı içerik analizi yöntemi ile yazılı anlatımlar ise NVIVO 10 ile analiz edilerek bulgular çeşitlendirilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, ortaokul öğrencilerinin cinsiyetleri ile bilim ve barış ilişkisine yönelik algıları arasında kavramsal kategoriler boyutunda farklılıklar olduğu ancak bu ilişkinin istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olmadığı bulunmuştur.
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship among secondary school students’ perceptions of science and peace relation and their genders through their paintings. Research was performed in 2014-2015 education year, spring term. The study group used in this research included 102 fifth grade students (53 females and 49 males) from the İzmit district, Kocaeli province, who were selected from three different secondary schools using the criterion sampling method. Research was performed by using survey model over descriptive research methods. Data of research were collected with draw and tell technique. During collecting of data, it was requested from students, to draw a picture which is related with science and peace and to write the relation of science and peace. Drawings were analyzed with using explicative content analysis method, writings were analyzed with NVIVO 10 and it was seen that findings were varied. According to the results of analysis, it is observed that there are differences in the dimension of the categories of their perceptions about science and peace relation and the genders of secondary school students, but this relationship is not statistically significant.
