Shopping centers have become one of the indispensable areas for users in terms of providing comfortable and reliable shopping opportunities, ease of meeting many needs from a single place, and offering quality materials to consumers with well-equipped personnel. The most important factor for shopping center projects is location. In terms of the sustainability of retail trade areas, increasing competition and the difficulty of changing the location later, many factors should be evaluated together and scientific methods should be utilized in determining the location of the shopping center. In this study, it is aimed to determine suitable locations for a new shopping center project in Adana city center. For this purpose, a working boundary covering the city center and its immediate surroundings, where the population and settlement is dense, has been created. Three main factors, namely land size, accessibility and demographic characteristics, and fifteen sub-factors were determined in the determination of suitable locations for shopping center. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, which is one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), was used to evaluate these factors. The effect degrees of the factors were determined with AHP and each factor was mapped with GIS. The result map was obtained by overlaying these maps, and alternative areas were determined to be presented to the decision makers by evaluating the suitable locations. This study is important in terms of being a guide for investors and decision makers.
