Abstract:

The research aims to reveal the problems faced by teachers working in the Science and Arts Centers and the solutions proposals for these problems. Research is a qualitative study in the comprehensive multi-situation study pattern. The research work group consists of 30 teachers working at the Antalya Kepez Science and Arts Center and the Finike Science and Arts Center. As a data collection tool, a semi-configured conversation form consisting of open end questions prepared by the researchers was used. The data obtained by the data collection tool is studied by content analysis. The findings of the study are presented in tables by giving frequency and percentage values and by making direct quotes from the opinions of the participants. According to the results of the study, teachers have a lot of problems in personal, educational and administrative areas. Teachers express intensely that the classes at the Science and Arts Centers are not suitable for both teachers and students as a personal problem. The problems most expressed by teachers in the educational sense are the lack of equipment and material in the center they work, the lack of physical equipment in the centers, the lack of content issues in the activities included in the framework programs of the Science and Art centers. Difficulty in communicating with managers arises as management problems expressed by teachers, while managers think results-oriented due to the success of the institution and are unfair in terms of the opportunities offered to teachers. As a solution to the problems that teachers experience, they often offer recommendations to take the working hours in the BILSEMs to the day and to provide support to the BILSEMs with physical equipment. The findings obtained in the study are discussed in the light of the literature.
