ÖZET Bu araştırmanın amacı ilkokul 4. Sınıf öğrencilerinin sorumluluk alma durumlarının öğretmen görüşlerine göre belirlenmesidir. Nitel araştırma deseni olan olgu bilim esas alınarak yürütülen araştırmanın çalışma grubunu; Adana ili Yüreğir ilçesine bağlı, Doğu Bölgesinden göç eden ailelerin çocuklarının devam ettiği iki okuldaki, Sınıf Öğretmeni olarak görev yapan 12 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Bu öğretmenlerin 8’i ile odak grup görüşmesi, diğer 4 öğretmen ile ise bireysel görüşme yapılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin görüşleri yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak alınmıştır. Görüşmenin yanı sıra gözlem yapılmış ve veriler toplanmıştır. Bu görüşmelerden ve gözlemden elde edilen verilerin nitel analize yöntemlerinden içerik analizi kullanılarak kodlara dönüştürülmüş ve birbirleri ile ilişkili kodlar bir araya getirilip üç ana tema ve bunların alt temaları oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmadan elde edilen verilerin sonucunda; öğretmenlerin öğrencilerin; ödevini ve diğer görevlerini zamanında yapma; akademik başarı gösterebilmek için özen gösterme; nöbetini tutma, araç-gereçleri eksiksiz getirme; okul kurallarına uyma; kıyafetine özenme, beslenmesine dikkat, öğretmenini dinleme, derse hazırlıklı gelme, bireylere saygılı olma; haklarını tanıma; özel alana saygı gösterme davranışlarını göstermelerini beklediklerini belirtmişlerdir. Verilen cevaplardan da anlaşıldığı gibi; öğretmenlerin daha çok, öğrencilerinin akademik sorumluluklarını yerine getirmeleri konusunda beklentileri vardır. Bu sorumlulukların kazandırılması için etkili olan etmenleri; sevgi, ilgi, sosyoekonomik durum, ailenin yapısı ve tutumu; okul ortamı, yaşadığı çevre ve öğretmenin tutumu olarak belirtmişlerdir. Sorumluluk verilen öğrencinin fiziksel, psikolojik ve yaş özelliklerinin göz önünde bulundurulması gerektiğini; sorumluluğu verecek kişilerin ise; kontrol edilebilecek düzeyde, ilgi ve sevgi göstererek, tercih hakkı sunarak ve doğru iletişim ile sağlanacağını belirtmişlerdir.
