The research is a preliminary study to examine whether physical performance in elite female volleyball players is related with empathy and sportspersonship. In this context, the research group constitutes of a team selected through intentional sampling method from the teams in the Sultanlar league. The number of athletes who participated in the study was 11. The average age of the study group was 22. 63 ± 5. 66 years, the average length of sport career was 12. 36 ± 5. 53 years and average height was 1. 81 ± 0. 68 cm. Isokinetic dynamometer Interpersonal Reactivity Index for Empathy (IRI) and Prosocial and Antisocial Behavior in Sport Scale (PABSS) were used as data collection tools. The Spearman correlation coefficient was examined to investigate whether there was a relationship among the variables. The data indicated that there was not a linear relationship among physical performance and subdimensions of empathy, namely fantasy (r=0.260, p=0.70), perspective taking (r=0.046, p=0.15), and subdimensions of sportspersonship, prosocial behavior toward teammates (r=0.370, p=0.34), prosocial behavior toward opponents (r=0.150, p=0.65), In other words, empathy and sportspersonship skills of a female volleyball player with high force parameters did not increase at the same level. As a result, it is necessary for coaches to train their athletes (physical, psychological and social), knowing that they cannot demonstrate similar empathic skills and sportspersonship orientation from the players with high physical performance. According to the findings, the high physical qualities of an athlete should not mean that the social and moral qualities of the athlete are also high. Further research may be conducted with more participants, especially by conducting an examination of contact team sports (such as football, basketball, and handball) and sex.
