Abstract:

This study discusses the relationship between domestic violence and academic success status. The research covers 9th-class students who continue to attend the secondary school in the center of Diyarbakır, in Bağlar. The study comprises a total of 1750 students. The data of the study was obtained from the surveillance form applied to students with the scale of violence. The study found that parents’ educational levels and professions and family income levels are a factor in the observation of domestic violence, the children who have been exposed to violence have received lower scores from the TEOG exam, which is an important criterion from the academic side, so they continue to enter schools with low scores such as Imam Hatip High School or Professional High School, the students who continue to the Science High School are the categories that are exposed to the kinds of violence in the family, the students who continue to the Anadolu High School are less exposed to violence than the students who continue to the Imam Hatip High School and Professional High School. As a result, a relationship between domestic violence and student academic achievements has been established.
