Abstract:

This research, which is carried out with the aim of examining the education problems of refugee students living in Yozgat, and the proposed solutions, is a qualitative study. The study group formed within the scope of the purpose of the research consists of a total of 49 participants, 24 refugee students, 18 teachers, 2 guidance teachers and 5 school administrators, who have immigrated to Turkey and are still living in the city center of Yozgat, attending secondary and high schools. In the research, semi-structured interview form was used as data collection tool. As a result of the research; The main reasons for refugee students to migrate to Turkey are the war in the country they come from and financial difficulties.Language problems and financial problems were the main problems of refugee students and parents living in Yozgat. Participants were determined to think that the school contributed to refugee students in developing their Turkish language, learning languages, and providing them with a suitable environment for socializing. On the other hand, the participants stated that although younger students were enrolled in school, their adaptation to school could not be achieved adequately, the psycho-social support offered to them was insufficient, the students in the older age group did not want to continue school, they continued to school out of necessity because they received educational assistance, and the trauma experienced by the children. It was determined that they stated that psycho-social support should be given to solve the problem, that there was a language problem in their education and that this situation should be resolved.
