Abstract:

In Indian geography, Islam continued its existence on the stage of the history by going through various changes and transformations; many new religious structures have emerged that synthesize different religious discourses. In this context, in the Indian understanding of Islam, some Sunni and Shiite communities methodically approached each other. In some Shiite communities, features that can be associated with the Sunni tradition, and in some Sunni communities, the features that can be associated with Shia began to be seen. One of the Muslim communities in which such characteristics are seen is Ahmadiyya, which emerged from the Sunni tradition. The traces of the Shiite tradition within Ahmadiyya can be seen from the religious claims of its founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, in the form of the salvation and messianic prophecy. After Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the traces of Shiite thought were continued in the religious and institutional understanding of Ahmadis. In this article, the viewpoints of the Ahmadis about the caliphate debates in the early period and significant names of Shiite history will be discussed, in particular Mirza Masrur Ahmad's Friday Sermon named "Muharram and the Great Status of Hadrat Imam Hussein". A copy of Mirza Masrur Ahmad's khutbah translated by us and various additions in the footnotes will be added to the end of the study.
