Hz.
The words, actions and approvals of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) are like the roots of a tree that holds the ummah together. Those who are aware of the effect of the sunnah, which is the second main source that provides this unity in Islam, have produced various discourses to disrupt this unity. One of these discourses is “The Qur’an is enough for us”. In this article, the historical background of this discourse, who defends this discourse today and its claims will be emphasized. Behind this seemingly innocent discourse is the thought that there is no need for hadith and sunnah. Some of those who defend this discourse actually believe that there may be some authentic hadiths. For this very reason, it is not possible for us to make an absolute judgment about them, since we do not know their intentions. However, it is seen that those who defend this discourse use all kinds of evidence that they deem negative, without judging it. The purpose of this article is to describe their prejudices, to reveal the destructive effects of uprooting a tree, and to emphasize the unity of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
