The Holy Qurʾān is a source of guidance and a guide sent to ensure that man follows the right path by striking a balance between the world and the Hereafter. Man is a valuable being who is honoured with revelation and who puts into practice the messages of revelation in his daily life. The major focus of the Qurʾān, which was revealed to ensure people's peace in this world and the Hereafter, are tawḥīd, prophethood and the Hereafter. Besides these main topics, the Qurʾān also addresses many issues that are considered as secondary topics. One of these issues emphasized in various verses of the Qurʾān is the balance between the world and the Hereafter. The world and the Hereafter are two important aspects of life that are mutually valuable. Each of them can be appreciated thanks to the existence of its opposite in line with the principle that things exist with their opposites. This is because the world makes sense thanks to the Hereafter, and the Hereafter makes sense thanks to the world. On the one hand, the Qurʾān mentions people who work only for the world and prioritize it and whose sole goal is the world, while it also informs us about the existence of people such as clerics who work only for the Hereafter, barely caring about worldly life. While describing these two types of people, the Holy Qurʾān emphasises that both groups make a wrong choice and that the right choice and lifestyle is a balanced one giving equal importance to the world and the Hereafter, which are mutually meaningful. Although most people fail to establish a balance between the world and the Hereafter, the Qurʾān emphasis on doing this reveals the importance of this issue. In this context, one of the verses in which the balance between the world and the Hereafter is most succinctly described is 77th verse of Sūrah al-Qaṣaṣ: "Seek by means of the wealth that Allah has granted you the Abode of the Hereafter, but forget not your share in this world and do good as Allah has been good to you and do not strive to create mischief on the earth, for Allah loves not those who create mischief." The purpose of this study is to draw attention, as an exegesis of the verse mentioned above, to the balance between the world and the Hereafter, which the Qurʾān emphasizes to pinpoint the reasons that disrupt this balance and the ways to maintain it, and to evaluate the balance of the world and the Hereafter, based on the integrity of the Qurʾān, through a holistic lens by considering other verses that address this balance. As a methodological decision, the 77th verse of Sūrah al-Qaṣaṣ is placed at the centre, and other verses that emphasize the balance between the world and the Hereafter are also taken into consideration. While offering these analyses and evaluations, the subject is explained by referring to classical and modern tafsīrs and other studies on the subject. In terms of scope, the concepts of the world and the Hereafter are addressed, and the related concepts are explained by discussing what these concepts mean. The worldly life is evaluated in the light of the verses emphasizing the descriptions of the world in the Qurʾān, and the names referring to the Hereafter are mentioned. Then, the subject is expanded to the issues of seeking the Hereafter with Allah's favours, not forgetting one's share in the world, doing good, and not creating mischief on the earth, which are all mentioned in Sūrah al-Qaṣaṣ, Verse 77, which highlights the balance between the world and the Hereafter and gives clues as to achieve this balance. The meaning of these subheadings in terms of the balance between the world and the Hereafter is explained, and evaluations are made based on the integrity of the aforementioned verse.
