Language is an inheritance from the predecessors to the living and will be entrusted by the living to the future generations. In the use of language, spelling rules have been accepted as the basis. Punctuation marks have been adopted in order that written language will approximate the spoken language. If the rules of word formation and grammar are violated, or sentences do not keep within the bounds of logic or there are mistakes in syntax, the meaning cannot be conveyed. In that case, language mistakes appear. Language mistakes damage the language in the long run. Problems appear in communication, language becomes cross bred, gets polluted, spoiled and dies eventually. It is essential that language be used properly to prevent those harms. The proper use of language is directly related to the knowledge of the native language. It is usual for those who do not have the sufficient knowledge of their native language to make frequent mistakes in the use of language. Even though the teaching of native language begins within family, schools have great responsibility in teaching it. The present study aims to determine the problems of secondary school students’ problems in composition writing and the thoughts regarding the solutions to these problems. This study also concentrates on the aims in writing, the writing process, the difficulties in writing and aims to define students’ mistakes in composition writing and offer solutions to them.
